Second, even if you are not eligible to use NETFILE because you emigrated from Canada in the tax year, you do not have a Social Insurance Number, or the number starts with zero, you can still use Tax Chopper to prepare a paper return.
The restrictions on NETFILE are listed on CRA’s website. If the only thing you want from tax software is NETFILE, then make sure you can use NETFILE. You also have to use a NETFILE supported browser.
You can use Tax Chopper to prepare a tax return for any year since 2002. However, CRA’s NETFILE service accepts 2013 to 2016 tax year returns only. For tax returns of 2012 and earlier, you will have to mail a paper return, along with the necessary supporting documents.
TaxChopper does not generate Quebec provincial returns, as well as non-resident and deemed resident tax returns.
